Our story

We cut for the wet-haired hour

Toi, Moi et la Mer began with one length of cloth off a Gianyar loom and a question — what do you actually wear between the pool and the table?

The house

Wrap it, tie it, throw it on damp

Everything we make answers that first question. Pieces you can wrap, tie, throw on damp and leave creased — dyed with clay and madder, sewn by nine people we know by name.

There is no season after this one. When a run sells out, the loom moves on to the next cloth.

Four villages

Where each piece is made

  • Loomed in Gianyar, on hand looms
  • Clay-dyed in Singaraja
  • Printed in Sidemen
  • Cut and sewn in Kerobokan and Canggu
What we leave out

Three things we don't do

  • No synthetics — linen, cotton, silk-cotton and crochet only.
  • No plastic in the post. Orders go out in cloth and paper.
  • No endless restocks. Small runs, then something new.
